The Vorpal Blade is the famous sword of Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There; it is the only weapon that can slay the Jabberwocky.

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.
...
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
~ Lewis Carroll, from Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There

Red Riding Hood causes trouble with the Jabberwocky in Ferryport Landing, so the Grimms seek out the blade in order to put a stop to the monster.

The sword, being able to cut a hole in the barrier, was used by the Black Knight to escape Ferryport Landing when he was sent to kill the Jabberwocky. This is the reason why Spaulding Grimm split the sword into three pieces with the help of the Blue Fairy and gave each piece to different people. One piece was given to Baba Yaga, and the second was given to The Little Mermaid. Many years later, the Grimms used the sword to cut a hole in the barrier in order to take Puck to Faerie after the Jabberwocky tears off his wings.

After the Grimms find all the pieces of the blade and have them put together by Blue Fairy, Jake uses the sword to slay the Jabberwocky, which had killed his father.
