Sat on a tuffett
Eating her curds and whey
Along came a spider
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.”
- ~ Miss Muffet Nursery Rhyme, from Children's Rhymes
The Spider is one of the few Everafters who does not seem to have a human form. He is described as an enormous hairy black spider. He also doesn't seem capable of human speech, communicating instead in clicks that only his wife seems to be able to understand.
Role in Books
Eleven years before the start of the series, Mr Arachnid and his wife had a son. They were, however, poor, which enabled Rumpelstiltskin to manipulate their emotions and convince them to exchange the child for money. In Book 2 it was revealed that they felt regret for this decision. At the end of the book they were reunited.
