The Jabberwocky is an Everafter monster from Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Saw There by Lewis Carroll. In Carroll's book, the Jabberwocky is mentioned in a poem in which a boy kills the beast with the Vorpal Blade.

History

The Jabberwocky is mentioned very briefly in the cliffhanger of book two and becomes prevalent in the third book of the series. Though Lewis Carroll makes no mention of more than one Jabberwocky, the series intends that there were several Jabberwockies on board of Wilhelm Grimm's ship of Everafters on their sail to America. These Jabberwockies on board the boat broke free of their cages and began killing the crew onboard the ship. Everyone on board turned to the Black Knight who killed the Jabberwockies with the Vorpal Blade. However, one escaped and hibernated in the woods in Ferryport Landing. It becomes Little Red Riding Hood's pet. Together they are deemed very dangerous and are locked in the Ferryport Landing asylum, using the same spell that imprisons the rest of the Everafters in the town. When Jacob Grimm II closes down the barrier, it releases the Jabberwocky which then kills his father, Basil Grimm. In book 3, Little Red Riding Hood called the Jabberwocky her "kitty".

Jacob Grimm later kills the Jabberwocky with the Vorpal Blade .

Physical Description

The Jabberwocky is a very large, lizard-like beast that was like "a combination of skin and scales and jagged teeth".
