Dolores Grimm was a member of the Grimm family, through her marriage to Douglas Grimm I. As she was the only daughter-in-law of Wilhelm Grimm and Henrietta Grimm, it can be assumed that she was well acquainted with the family business of being fairy-tale detectives. She is the great-great-great-great grandmother of Sabrina and Daphne, the protagonists of The Sisters Grimm series.

Delores had three children with Douglas: Spaulding Grimm, Thomas Grimm and Dessie Grimm. Thomas unfortunately died in early childhood and Dessie died at the age of 15; Spaulding is therefore her only child to survive into adulthood.

Etymology

Dolores originates from the Spanish Maria de los Dolores - Mary of the Sorrows. The root of the word is from the Latin "dolor" which translates to pain or sorrow.
